Certified Water Operators
As the owner of a public water supply you are required to provide safe and adequate drinking water for your residents. A public water supply is defined as any system that supplies water to at least 15 service connections or regularly serves an average of at least 25 individuals daily at least 60 days out of the year. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has set requirements that must be met. One of the requirements is you must have a licensed operator for your system. The Department of Natural Resources has begun to strictly enforce this rule.
As an operator we take the required monthly samples, process, and report the results of the samples to DNR. We also visit the facility once a month to inspect the water system and lines, inform DNR of any changes in the water system, and any other duties deemed necessary by the facility or DNR. We are available for emergency visits and consultation as necessary. We also handle all correspondence with DNR. The most important of these requirements is that sampling of the water be done. Failure to do sampling may result in legal action being taken against the owner.
